Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Site Safety Supervisor will be responsible to provide guidance and facilitates a collaborative approach to site management on implementation of safety, quality, and proper training to reduce risk and incidents.  This role is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the performance of safety, quality and training.  This includes, but is not limited to providing required training, site inspections, maintain certifications, reporting, auditing, and recordkeeping.  

Responsibilities

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for auditing paperwork to include but not limited to:  proper signatures, ensuring duties assigned are logged, time recorded correctly and all parts are documents.
  • Safety responsibilities to include but not limited to:  Identifying hazards at the site, complete monthly safety audits, educating employees on proper PPE and ensuring PPE is used, ensure hazardous materials are properly stored and disposed of, ensuring the site is properly clean and clear of potential safety violations and ensure that all employees work in a safe and hazard-free manor.
  • Conduct safety meetings and record meeting minutes.
  • Attends Monthly Company Safety conference call.
  • Make recommendations to the site manager pertaining to the safety and health of employees in the work place.
  • Obtain copies of customer and all sub-contractor Safety Plans, Hazard Communication Programs and MSDS.
  • Insure all PPE for site is available and worn correctly.
  • Follows and complies with all company and federally established policies and procedures and ensures the stie is following company, state and federal OSHA requirements. 
  • Works with site management to continue to build a safety culture where all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. 
  • Utilizes a computer to perform a variety of communications, training and administrative processes.
  • Completes forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures.
  • Completes all safety training as assigned by the Company.
  • Train competent persons in fall protection, forklift operations, overhead crane operations, powered tools, LOTO, PPE, chemical safety, etc.
  • Train all employees in training by company standards, customer requirements, state and federal law
  • Compliance with all DSUS safety programs, policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties/assignments that may be required by management from time to time.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a safety related position.
  • Supervisory and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of GSE – ground support equipment
  • Depending on the location, may be required to travel.
  • Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Knowledge of general workplace safety requirements and procedures.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous work experience in an Airport environment.
  • OSHA 30 hr course completion
  • 3+ years’ experience in a safety and training leadership position
  • OSHA Course 511, 30 hr instruction in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures related to equipment repair.

Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge.  Ability to log in, retrieve and answer emails and take training.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be able obtain and maintain an Airport Security badge
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Company’s insurance policy
  • Must be able to comply with the  DSUS Drug and Alcohol policy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Varies between an office environment as well as all areas located on Airport property.  May be around dust, dirt, moving machinery, temperature changes, heights and noise levels below OSHA minimum requirements. Use of PPE is required.
